Voices of Missouri

Indigenous Voices of Missouri is a research project with a goal to investigate and highlight the cancer experiences of American Indian and Alaska Native individuals living in Missouri. A Native American Advisory Board of seven tribal community members guided the development of interview and survey questions. Seven American Indian cancer survivors were interviewed and asked to share their cancer stories. We share portions of those clips here, providing advice for the broader community. Interviews included topics about cancer diagnosis, perception of cancer, barriers and challenges, resources, traditional healing mechanisms, and words of wisdom for others experiencing cancer.
